I didn’t vote. I believe it’s over-rated and I refuse to subscribe to the “Vote or die/Vote or you can’t complain/Just get out and vote” mentality. What makes us think that our citizenry is even capable to make an educated decision as to what to vote for? Or how a proposition or politician is actually going to affect the world we live in? The fact that political campaigns are written and marketed towards the lowest common denominator of society should tell you something about most people who vote. I’ll give you a hint: They’re idiots.
We fail to realize that most people struggle just to make good decisions in their own lives, let alone decisions that will affect people they don’t even know. So I find all the grandstanding, sticker wearing, and judgement from others who tell me that if I don’t vote then I am “lesser” than they are to be completely preposterous. Besides, there is always going to be another election around the corner to boot out the jerks we elected previously or to strike down a proposition that previously passed. We are merely cogs in a wheel.
Actually, I just forgot to register on time.
I’m getting married tomorrow and it is just now hitting me. Everything is coming together nicely, yet I feel like I am on a roller coaster that is set to stop at the alter tomorrow.
I need to breathe, slow down, and really enjoy these moments. I’m afraid they are going to pass by without me.
Tomorrow is a huge day, the beginning of the next chapter. This book just keeps getting better and better!
